The CarPlay lyrics problem

You're driving. Your favorite song comes on. You want to sing along, but you don't know all the words. You glance at your phone — dangerous, and illegal in many places. Apple Music shows basic lyrics but no romanization for K-pop. Spotify shows no lyrics on CarPlay at all. Lyrical puts full lyrics on your dashboard display, with romanization beneath non-English songs.

What it shows

Lyrical displays the current song title, artist, and album art at the top of your CarPlay screen. Below that, the current lyric line appears large and readable. For K-pop and other non-English music, romanization appears beneath the original script. You see everything you need to sing along.

How it's displayed

The layout is designed for in-car use. Large text, high contrast, minimal clutter. The current line is prominent. Previous and next lines are visible but subdued. Your eyes find what you need quickly, then return to the road.

Romanization on the dashboard

For Korean songs, Hangul appears with Revised Romanization beneath. For Japanese, kanji with readings. For Chinese, characters with pinyin. Passengers who don't read the original scripts can still follow along and sing.

Safety first

Lyrical is designed with driving safety in mind. The lyrics are glanceable, not readable. The large text and clear layout make a one-second glance effective. If you're driving alone, use it for familiar songs. Don't try to learn new lyrics while driving. Safety matters more than perfect karaoke.

Frequently asked questions

Does it work with wireless CarPlay?

Yes. Lyrical works with both wired and wireless CarPlay connections. Performance is the same either way.

Do I need a specific car?

Any vehicle with CarPlay support works. Most cars from 2016 onward have CarPlay. Aftermarket head units from Pioneer, Alpine, and others also support it.

Can the driver read lyrics safely?

Drivers should only glance at lyrics occasionally, not read continuously. The large text makes glances effective. Passengers can read fully. Safety is the driver's responsibility.

Does it work with both Apple Music and Spotify?

Yes. Lyrical's CarPlay integration works regardless of your music service. Connect your phone, play music from either app, lyrics appear.

What about Android Auto?

Lyrical is iOS only. There is no Android version, so no Android Auto support. An Android app is in development but has no release date.

Can I control lyrics from the steering wheel?

Your steering wheel controls handle play, pause, skip, and volume. Lyrics display automatically. There's no specific 'lyrics button' but the experience is hands-free once started.
